It is an honor to serve as the Interim Principal of Durham Intermediate School. Intermediate school is a unique and important season in a student’s life—one filled with growth, curiosity, and the development of skills that will shape future success. At Durham, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to do their best each day.

My name is Andrea Powers, and I’m so excited to join Durham Intermediate as your new co-principal alongside Mr. Pinson.

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University (Gig 'Em), a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Master of Education degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. This is my 28th year in education, and my experience includes 21 years as a classroom teacher and 7 years in campus administration. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Principal at Johnson Elementary here in Carroll ISD.

I’m a proud mom to three boys - one grown and two in college and I have 1 granddaughter. Outside of school, I love college football, reading, traveling, and tackling creative or DIY projects when I can find the time.

One of the things I love most about education is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships. I believe that strong schools are built on trust, collaboration, and a shared commitment to doing what's best for students. I’m deeply passionate about supporting students, empowering teachers, and creating a campus culture where everyone feels valued and inspired to grow.

As we begin this unique school year together, I look forward to honoring Durham's incredible legacy while making this a year filled with meaningful learning, lasting memories, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. I can't wait to get to know each of you, learn from you, and work alongside you. I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve this amazing school community, and I'm excited for all we'll accomplish together during this "One Last Legendary Year" at Durham!
